TINC 2011 was held September 24th - 26th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Houston, Texas. The Turnaround Industry Network Conference (TINC) continues to be the premier venue for the sharing of best practices for delivering safe, event-free, and predictable turnaround outcomes. Sponsored by Asset Performance Networks, TINC participation is limited to owner-operators. It is the only forum devoted exclusively to turnaround professionals with no vendor marketing.
This year's conference featured timely presentations and experts from owner-operator companies such as: Bayer, Chevron, ChevronPhillips, Shell, and Valero addressing a number of current topics facing the industry:
- Turnarounds and Business Impact
- Industry Turnaround Performance Trends and Benchmarks
- Strategic Approaches to Turnaround Excellence
- Operations Front End Loading for Turnaround Success
- Turnaround Work Process Development
- Contracting Strategy
TINC 2011 also featured four interactive breakout sessions for industry peers to interact with one another and explore leading-edge ideas on emerging best practices that promote improved safety, cost, schedule and reliability outcomes. Real-time benchmarking of turnaround practices and performance was an interactive activity that all attendees participated in.
An expert panel kicked off day two of the conference in which recognized industry experts fielded questions from attendees on a wide range of turnaround performance issues.
- "Very good conference indeed with up-to-date topics and excellent presentations."
- "Great opportunity to network with others in the industry."
- "Created clarity on the various topics of turnaround management."
- "Excellent. Knowledgeable presenters and excellent balance of presentations and breakout discussions."

The ongoing theme of TINC is "The Continuum of Turnaround Excellence," where participants have the opportunity to meet with peers and gain insights into the latest industry trends and best practices. The two-day conference includes presentations covering proven practices in the following topics: management involvement, steering team criticality, turnaround risk management, high performing teams and execution teamwork, continuous planning and integration, planning practices, safety management, and integration of capital project activities into the turnaround.
